Welcome to the Magnum Blog

Dear colleagues and friends,
Magnum Photos is delighted to introduce the Magnum Blog, an online forum for discussing photography and photojournalism. Our photographers come from 27 different countries and are considered to be among the world’s best. The blog is a new medium for them to recount the details behind their images, to expose the motivations behind their projects, to discuss the systematic issues that affect all photographers and photojournalists, and to explore the industrial and societal changes that inform our expectations of photography.
There are also stories to tell from within Magnum Photos Inc. The tasks, challenges and thoughts of the people working in the four offices in Paris, London, Tokyo and New York. Imagine, for example, the gargantuan task of digitizing the archive of an agency that this year is celebrating its 60th anniversary; or promoting orthodox storytelling in a rapidly changing media market.
The Magnum Blog is intended to inspire debate. We invite the Blog’s readers to actively post comments to the stories, adding examples of their own experiences, their questions, and their criticism.
We welcome your feedback and ideas. If there is a topic you’d like to see explored, if you want to contribute to the blog, or if you have a question for a specific photographer, please email blog@magnumphotos.com
