Thomas Alva Edison, who held approximately 1.500 patents, is often refered to as the inventor of the light bulb. He is not, but he was able to bring an old idea to life. On this day in 1879 he managed to test a light bulb that lasted for 13,5 hours. 356 of his patents dealt with electric lighting and the generation and distribution of electricity. Thank you Thomas Edison.

Victor, according to various sources on the web there were a number of scientists who experimented with electrical light before. You can read "The history of the light bulb".

the picture snatches a moment in life 1986 - that's what it makes interesting to me. these old stores are full of history and special (traditional) moments.

by the way: who was behind the idea of that light bulb then?

Don't want to be a wet blanket but Edison loved electricity so much that he was also a fervent supporter of the electric chair...
Lea I think the cross you mention is made of two combs.

Salford! Woohoo!! Forget the concept idea and thoughts behind the picture i used to have to go to places like this with my Gran possibly even visited this particular establishment. Tea rollers and the smell of vintage hair dryers that dried every inch of grans curly perm. Awesome.
