New York: Simon and Schuster, (1955). First U.S. Edition. Caption booklet laid in. Boards and dust jacket designed by Joan Miró. The Europeans is a selection of 114 classic black and white photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson, the father of modern photojournalism. Taken between 1950 To 1955, they depict unposed scenes from everyday life in post war Europe. The book consists of 114 b/w gravure photos, an introduction by photographer, and a 12-pg captions booklet. Beautiful example of a book that is hard to find in collectible condition.

Condition:

Fine / Fine -
A tight, clean copy throughout with light rubbing to edges of covers, very slight tap to top front corner (not affecting any pages), and superficial splitting to paper at top 3” of gutter along the front end page, and 1” to top of gutter at the rear end page (binding still strong and solid). Original Dust Jacket still present, price clipped, with signs of light soiling to edges and a 1” closed tear with area of associated loss to bottom of the spine. Overall a highly collectible copy in the scarce original dust jacket (often lacking or if present found in lesser condition).
