Comment Policy

An important mission of the Magnum Blog is to spur discussion and conversation about documentary story telling, photojournalism, visual art and related topics. We strive to keep the conversation open and free. However, at the same time, we believe that all discussions needs to be sober, sensible and serious to contribute positively. Thus, we reserve the right to remove comments that are profane, insulting, false, irrelevant or that in other ways lead to unconstructive exchanges. We also reserve the right to remove anonymous comments and comments where we cannot verify the authenticity of the sender as well as comments that promote commercial interests. Magnum is not responsible and cannot be held liable for any content of comments. If you have questions about this policy, about specific comments, or about comments that have been removed, please contact: blog@magnumphotos.com

Good Comments (defined by gothamist.com)

  • Good comments respond to the content in the post or to a comment left by another reader and it is helpful to write to which author a comment is addressed.

  • Good comments can disagree with the content in the post but do not insult the writer of the post, other readers posting comments, other websites, etc.

  • Good comments are usually pretty short, have a positive/constructive tone and are open to being contradicted by other readers.

  • Good comments are always on topic and never contain spam or spam-like content.

  • Good comments are rarely anonymous because contributors should feel able stand behind their opinions.
